Terry Petersen graduated from the University of Kansas with a
B.S. in physical therapy in 1974. She completed an advanced
Master's degree in physical therapy with an emphasis in
neurophysiology in 1993. Varied experiences include
multidisciplinary team training with the Capper Foundation in
Topeka, Kansas; Britain Center in Shawnee, Kansas; and KU
Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas; as well as itinerant school
therapy in Fairfax County, Virginia (a suburb of Washington
D.C.). Since 1994, Terry has been in private practice in southern
Johnson County, Kansas and has specialized in aquatic physical
therapy and tone management for children and young adults.
Teaching experience includes five years as a pediatrics instructor
to graduate level students at KU Medical Center. Terry provides
aquatic workshop training and consultation to other therapists,
and has also twice published a pediatrics chapter in a leading
aquatics text entitled Comprehensive Aquatic Therapy edited by
Becker and Cole. Memberships are active in the APTA, KAPTA,
pediatric and aquatic sections.
Terry was re-certified as a board certified pediatric clinical
specialist in 2012. She also contributed to the APTA's Certification
in Aquatic Physical Therapy Clinical Competency (CAPTCC) by
authoring one of the six modules, "Aquatic Physics."
Terry no longer directly sees clients, but serves as a consultant
for our practice.

Darci DeBaun, MS PT
While Darci DeBaun was still in graduate school, she worked
with children in our program offering outstanding home care and
aquatic instruction. In 2001 she graduated with a Master's of
Science degree in physical therapy from the Kansas University
School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas.
As a staff physical therapist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta,
Darci worked for six years in the pediatric outpatient program.
Her caseload work varied and provided her with the solid clinical
skills that she has utilized in her practice with CPTA. Before
moving back to Kansas City in 2008, Darci worked almost two
additional years with children, providing home, community, and
Darci is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association
and is a Water Safety Instructor.
Natalie Kolenda, DPT
University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos.
Her undergraduate work was completed in 2008 at California
State University Northridge with a B.S. degree in kinesiology, an
emphasis in exercise science.
Experiences as a physical therapy aide at Glendale Adventist
Therapy and Wellness Center in Glendale, California, and at
CSUN Center for Achievement in Northridge, California helped
prepare Natalie for her well rounded background in exercise and
wellness. Always interested in working with children, she also
coached high school volleyball and was a summer camp
Clinical internships included rotations at Country Hills Healthcare
and Rehabilitation Center in El Cajon, California and Therapy
Works in Lawrence, Kansas. Natalie is a gifted clinician with
strong aquatic skills; she brings energy and passion to her work
and forms strong bonds with children and their families.
Jessica comes to CPTA with a life-long passion to help children
Rockhurst University, Kansas City, Missouri, with an
undergraduate degree in psychology and a doctorate degree in
